WOOSTER – Charles P. MCCLINTOCK, 93, of Wooster, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 in Akron City Hospital.
He was born July 26, 1917 in Uniontown, OH, the son of Charles and Elsie Price McClintock. He married Lorna Hoare on April 12, 1941. She died August 28, 1999 after 58 years of marriage.
He graduated from Wooster High School in 1936 where he participated in football, basketball, baseball and golf. He retired from Rubbermaid as a foreman after 46 years of employment. He was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and coached the Church basketball team for over 50 years and also served on many committees.
He was a registered basketball official from 1946-1964. Chuck coached in the Wooster YMCA Basketball league for 58 years (1945-2003). Served as the teaching pro at the Wooster Country Club following WWII. He played for and later managed the Wooster Lumber Fastpitch softball team, served as scoutmaster of troop 62 for a number of years. He served his country with with the U.S. Army during WWII
He volunteered at People to People Ministries for over 20 years, participated in Senior Wednesday Golf League for 16 years and Senior Friday Golf League for 25 years. He was an avid follower of both the Wooster Generals and College of Wooster Fighting Scots.
Surviving are sons, Mark McClintock of Wooster and Jon (Heather) McClintock of Columbus, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife, Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Marcia Popadich and a sister, Ruth Walter.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m.
A Memorial Services will be held the Wooster United Methodist Church on Saturday, Octobeer 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dr. David Wilcox officiating. A private family burial will be held.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 N. Market St., Wooster, OH 44691 or to People to People Ministries, 454 E. Bowman St., Wooster, OH 44691.
