WOOSTER – Gene Arthur Tub SLUTZ, 73, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in his home.
He was born July 5, 1937 in Fredericksburg, the son of Lynn and Mildred Rottman Slutz. He married Margaret Peg Elsie Spencer on October 20, 1978. She died August 13, 2002.
He retired as a truck driver from Lytle Construction Co and was former volunteer fireman with the Fredericksburg Fire Dept..
Surviving are daughters, Annette Lynn Spencer of Sunset Beach, NC and Peggy Jo (Derrick) Van Emon of West Salem; a step-son, Rod (Kris) Traver of Wooster, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sister, Rosie Allen of Fredericksburg and a brother, Jeff Slutz of Orrville.
In addition to his wife, Gene was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Thomas Gene Slutz, a son-in-law, Walter E Spencer Jr. and a brother, Blair Slutz.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the 1:00 p.m. service at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Saturday, November 6, 2010 with Pastor Robert Fetterhoff officiating. Interment will follow in the Apple Creek Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Dept.
