William O. John Groves 77 of Wooster formerly of Dalton died Saturday November 2010 in Wooster Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday November 23, 2010 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster, Ohio 44691 with Pastor Larry Rickey and Deacon Ray Cogar officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
He was born February 13, 1933 in Waynesville WV, the son of Willard and Blanch Moore Groves. On March 28, 1963 he married Ellen L. Wilson who preceded him in death on September 9, 2000.
He was factory worker for many years, working for Orrville Products, Diebold, and Wilbert. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved gardening, yard work and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are his children: Elizabeth A. (Dave) Barnett of Wooster, Abraham L. (Marie) Groves of Delaware, Ohio, and Ted D. Groves of Winslow Arizona. 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Siblings: Edith Lucas, Jim Groves, Stanley Groves, Velma Whal, Lee Mullens, Ellen Short and Frank Radcliff all of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and siblings: Shirly Blankenship, Gay Mason, Lorena Tolley, and Mella Mae Radcliff.
