WOOSTER – Thomas Alvin SHAMP, 70, of Wooster passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 in his home.
He was born February 9, 1940 in Wooster, the son of Miles and Florence Zimmerman Shamp. He married Susan Glasgow on June 15, 1985. She survives.
He retired as a surveyor from the Wayne Co. Engineers and then started his own business – Shamp Surveying. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 68.. Tom served his country with the US Air Force retiring after 30 years of service. He loved the outdoors, especially mushroom hunting, sailing and vacationing in Michigan..
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Heather (Randy) Yates and T.J. (Daisy) Shamp both of Wooster, John (Kathy) Glasgow of Bristow, VA, Douglas (Tara) Glasgow of San Diego, CA, Mandy (Jeremy) Berg of Wheeler, WI and Paul (Carol) Glasgow of Boulder, CO, grandchildren, Mallorey, Alexandra and Amanda Yates, Mason and Madelyn Shamp, Ivan, Anna and Andrew Glasgow, Grant and Remington Glasgow and Ryley, Evan and Peter Berg and a great-grandson, Jackson Morris; brother, Douglas Shamp of San Francisco.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dick Shamp and a sister, Anne Uhl.
The family will receive friends following the service.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Christian Church, 407 N. Market St., Wooster with Pastor Dave Koehler officiatiing.
Following the service, military honors will be conducted by the 179th Air National Guard Detachment from Mansfield of whichTom was a member.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
