Robert L. Polsky 93, of Wooster died Friday January 28, 2011 at Wooster Community Hospital
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday February 1, 2011 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home with Rabbi Enid Lader officiating. Burial will follow at Wooster Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County 2525 Back Orrville Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691, or to Knesseth Israel Temple 1670 Cleveland Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691.
Robert was born November 16, 1917 in Crestline, Ohio the son of Benjamin and Fannie Kassleman Polsky. He graduated from Loundonville High School in 1936. He owned and operated an auto supply store for a short time and then entered the U.S. Army Air Corp. in January of 1942 and was honorably discharged in March of 1946 as a First LT. Upon his return to Loudonville he operated a scrap yard and then formed a partnership with David Bass and K. Volper in Volper Iron and Metal Company in Wooster Ohio. After a few years he became sole owner of the company. In 1976 his company merged with Sam Shapiro and formed Metalics Recycling, where he was the operating partner until 1988 at which time Sam and Steve Shapiro bought his interest in the company. He then continued as an employee until 1997 at which time he formed B and T Holding Company, a warehousing and storage operation with Thomas Sines.
He was a member of Knesseth Israel Temple where he was a past president, Wooster Brni Brith, a 60 year member of American Legion Post 68, A former member of the Wooster Noon Lions Club, He served on the foundation board and a member of the board of trustees at Boys Village.
Surviving are: His wife Kathleen Ballard Polsky to whom he had been married to 31 years. Step Son: Steven Windon. Special Friend: Dolly Windon. Brother: Harold and Jamacia Kassel. 4 Grandchildren: James, Jeremy, David, and Jana. 6 great grandchildren: Spencer, Tyler, Sarah, Dakota, Tori, and Storm.
He was preceded in death by a sister Helen Salovon, a son Douglas and a grandson.
