Reading, traveling, visiting with her grandkids, flavored coffee, and lavender flowers–these were a few of her favorite things. Marilyn Doll Kendall was born January 19, 1938, in Wooster, Ohio. She lived her entire life here and enjoyed nothing more than finding a familiar face to chat with while visiting a local store or restaurant. From her early job at East Ohio Gas to her 21 years at Apple Creek Bank, she loved interacting with her community. Even after she retired she often stopped by to see her old coworkers, or as she lovingly referred to them, the girls. She also attended Grace Brethren Church for the past twenty years.
Marilyn was the proud mother of sons Randy (Teresa) and Chris (Romeo), and doting grandmother of Nick, Kayla, and Abby. She is also survived by brother Richard (Dixie) Horn and sister Dean (Lou) Steinbach. She is preceded in death by parents Gaillard and Celia (Mandolin) Horn and brother Carl.
Marilyn passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 4, following a three-year fight with cancer. Her determined will kept her cheerful throughout. The family would like to thank Dr. Masci and all of the Hospice workers who cared for her in her final days. Memorial services will be held at 3pm Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at McIntire, Davis, & Greene, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. The family will receive friends following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Marilyn’s name to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd, Wooster, OH 44691. For those who wish, online condolences may be emailed to cliff@mcintiredavisgreene.com.
