Leila F. Cornell, 91, of Wooster died Saturday February 19, 2011 at Wooster Community Hospital.
She was born March 2, 1919 in Fredericksburg to the late Clayton and Inez Bumgard Cunningham. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1936. Leila retired from P.C.A. in Rittman in 1980 then went on to work at the former Livingston Furniture, Nicholls Discount Store, Fisher Big Wheel and finally retired at the age of 85 from K-Mart where she was a cashier. Leila also belonged to various garden clubs, was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and volunteered at the Salvation Army.
Leila is survived by her grandchildren Robert Curry, Melvin and Donald Riffle, Larry Paul and Melinda Mathes; great grandchildren Rhinna and Nichole Curry and a sister Virginia Markley.
Along with her parents, Leila was preceded in death by her husband Willis Cornell, Sr., in 1960, whom she married August 8, 1938; son Willis A. Bud Cornell, Jr.; daughter Patricia Rae Mathes and a sister Lucille Markley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Interment will follow at Fredericksburg Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
