WOOSTER – Mary Marie SNYDER, 89, of Shreve, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the Country Pointe Nursing Home.
She was born February 27, 1921 in Chester Township, Wayne County, the daughter of Benjamin and Anna Newman Shifferly.
She had been employed at Diamonite in Shreve for 28 years, was a member of the Shreve United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing at Lake Erie and camping.
Surviving are a son, Norman Jr. (Jean) Snyder of Shreve and a daughter, Betty (Thomas) Chronister of Wooster; grandchildren, Mike and Ron Snyder of Shreve, Martha Duvall of Leithfield, Kentucky, Connie Tooley of Wooster; great-grandchildren, Jordan Tooley, Madison, Megan and Myra Duvall.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman L. Snyder, Sr., on October 30, 2001 whom she married March 16, 1939, brothers Lehman and twins Floyd Shifferly and a sister Florence Barrickman.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with the Rev. Larry Black officiating. .Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Country Pointe Nursing Home of New Pittsburg for their exceptional care and concern for Mary during her stay.
