Leonard Ewing SCHNELL, 87, of Wooster, died Friday March 4, 2011 at West View Manor
He was born July 31, 1923 in Berlin, son of Fred C. and Minnie Yoder Schnell.
He was a graduate of Berlin High School and the Ohio State University. Leonard was a life long farmer and had served his country during WWII with the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church since 1947, past president of the Ohio Farm Bureau, director of Nationwide Enterprise, member of Wooster Rotary Club where he was a past District Governor, director of the Apple Creek Bank, director of the Greater Wayne Co. Foundation, and a member of the Wooster Community Hospital Foundation. He also enjoyed reading.
Surviving are sons, Michael D Schnell of New Bremen and Scott R Schnell of Iowa City, IA, granddaughter, Kristy Nicolo and a grandson, Joey Schnell.
Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Arlene Mitten Schnell in 1990; his parents and brothers, Lyman and Weldon Schnell.
Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Monday March 7, 2011 at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan officiating. Interment will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St, Wooster.
