Charles W. Dillon, 84, of Wooster passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Wooster Community Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 30, 2011 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster, Ohio 44691 with Revs. Mark McCord and Wendell Sinclair officiating. Entombment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens where military honors will be observed. Friends will be received Tuesday evening March 29, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
He was born October 20, 1926 in Wooster, the son of Ray and Freda Stauch Dillon. He married Elizabeth Paulus on November 12, 1946. She survives. They had celebrated 64 years of marriage.
He had been the manager of Wayne Auto Parts Co. for 15 years, had owned and operated various gas stations and was the founder of Dillon Motors. He was a member of the Highland Avenue Church of God and had served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII stationed in the Philippines as a paratrooper and worked in the motorpool.
Chuck enjoyed boating, camping, shelling and attending his grandchildren?s activities. They made shellcraft items and traveled in seven states selling them. He was a member of American Legion Post 68 of Wooster, a former member of the Elks, Eagles and the Masonic Lodge. Winters were spent in Ft. Myers, Florida for the past 36 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children Linda (George) Gray of West Salem and Charles (Nancy) of Wooster; grandchildren Loni Bowersock, Lori Dugan, Stacy (Steve) Radabaugh, Matt (Stacey) Dillon and Sue (Scott) Young; 2 step grandchildren Vicki (Rock) Frost and Brian (Lori) Gray. 8 great-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Phyllis Kinney of Texas.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents.
