WOOSTER – Lorain Barteau Fisher SCHMID, 84, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in her home.
She was born November 3, 1926 in South Hampton, Long Island, New York, the daughter of Leroy and Lillian Keenen Fisher. She married Homer D. Schmid on July 1, 1945. He survives.
She had worked at the former Buckeye Ware and the Moreland General Store and was also co-owner of Lorbec Spa in Wooster. Lorain was a member of the Central Christian Church, a 39 year volunteer at Wooster Community Hospital and a blood donor with the American Red Cross. She loved swimming, reading and being a volunteer at the Hospital. She received the Senior Citizen Hall of Fame Award in 2001 for her volunteer service..
Surviving in addition to her husband are her sons, Tim (Nancy) Schmid of Wooster, John (Lydia) Schmid of Benton and Steve (Kathy) Schmid of Paint Valley; grandchildren, Scott (Debby), Adam, Amy, Katie and Lily; 4 great-grandchildren and a brother Fred Fisher of Birmingham, Alabama.
Lorain was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Tyler and a sister Lillian.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Christian Church, 407 N. Market St., Wooster with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Burial will be in the Blachleyville Cemetery.
