On April 22, 2011, George ?Curt? Sprunger, went home to be with the Lord. Curt was born on March 1, 1934 to Clinton and Verna Sprunger in Dalton, Ohio. He was a 1952 graduate from Dalton High School. Curt married Miriam M. Fry (Sprunger) who survives along with their children, Sandra D. Troyer (Kevin) of Orrville, and Steven C. Sprunger (Lisa) of North Royalton. Curt was blessed with 6 grandchildren who loved him: Jamie & Katie Troyer and Emily, Curt, Isabella, and Garrett Sprunger. Two brothers: Robert (Beth) Sprunger of Dalton and Ronald (Lisa) Sprunger of Ashland. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Wesley Sprunger, and a niece Carmen Neuwenschwander.
Curt was known as an avid golfer locally at Riceland Golf Course and Mohican Hills, as well as a 30 year veteran of the Ohio State Left-handed tournament. His exceptional short game was a topic of conversation by those at Riceland and Mohican as well as his sense of humor. Curt sang with the Wayneaires, the Wayne County Barbershop Chorus and with quartets. He worked for the Wooster Brush Company for over 33 years as a data processing manager. He worked for Rubbermaid where he met his wife Miriam. He was employed as a truck driver for Gerber Poultry, Oren Hostetler Trucking, and Orrville Tile Company. Curt served on the East Union Lutheran Church council for many years, where he also taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Curt also served in the Army Military Police for two years in Germany.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Tuesday April 26, 2011 at the East Union Lutheran Church 7063 E. Lincoln Way, Wooster, Ohio 44691 with Pastor Robert Moskowitz officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster, Ohio 44691 from 5-8 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2011.
