WOOSTER – Betty Jane HAWKINS, 86, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011 in Brookdale Place Nursing Home.
She was born December 3, 1924 in Jeromesville, the daughter of Don and Fern Eagle Myers. She married Earl Hawkins on May 28, 1948. He survives.
Betty was a graduate of Jeromesville High School. In 1950 Betty and Earl moved to Wooster and founded Hawkins Market, in 1974 they opened and operated Hawkins Cafeteria for 22 years and in 1995 opened the Hawks Nest Golf Course. She was a member of the Grace Brethren Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She loved gardening and golfing.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughters, Linda (Jim) Plunkett of Jacksonville, Florida, Carol (Greg) Webb of Wooster and Nancy (Steve) Skinner of Wichita, Kansas; 4 grandchildren, April (Christopher) Pesicek, Christine (Clete) Schafrath, Ian Murray and Brian Murray, 3 great-grandchildren, Alexis Pesicek, Noah Schafrath and Benjamin Schafrath.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Metcalf
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday evening, May 22, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m.

Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Robert Fetterhoff officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is grateful for the kind and loving care of the Sunrise/Brookdale staff.
