SMITHVILLE – Betty June SPENCER, 82, of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in Wooster.
She was born November 28, 1928 in LaVale, Maryland, the daughter of John Henry and Ethel Mae Fishell. She married William Clifford Spencer in 1946. He died March 4, 1967.
She had worked for Sheller Meats for over 20 years and had also worked at Lawsons, Dairy Mart, Hawkins Bakery, Burger King and Goodwill. She attended the Church of God in Smithville. Betty enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading, was a Betty Boop fan, walking, cats and the outdoors.
Surviving are a son, Don (Lynn) Spencer of Wooster, grandchildren, John (Anita)Squire of Ashland, Danielle (Mike) Wencel of Killbuck, Deanna (Anthony) Miller of Lakeville, Joe (Crystal) Spencer of Wooster, James (Krista) Spencer of Ashland, William Spencer of Ashland, Dana Spencer of Hayesville; step-grandchildren Mitch and Mark Zimmerman and Nicole Reischman; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Jackie Atkinson of Cumberland, Maryland and a special friend, Norma Finley.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald Fishell and companion of 30 years, Owen Lang in 2001.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday evening from 4-8:00 p.m..
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. O. J. Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Smithville Cemetery.
