WOOSTER – Alice Vernettie BISHOP, 80, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011 in Wooster Community Hospital with her family at her side after a period of declining health.
She was born March 11, 1931 in Clinchburg, Virginia, the daughter of Calvin and Susie Holmes Cruise.
Alice retired from RexRoth/Borg Warner in 1989 after 16 years of service. Alice was a social butterfly, always entertaining family and friends. She loved to play cards and especially mushroom hunt, often traveling to Michigan with her sister-in-law Norina to do so. She was especially proud of her great grandsons who gave her much joy. She was always willing to help anyone who was down and out, doing so many times. All who knew her will miss her.
Surviving are daughter, Lynette (Ken) Geitgey, a granddaughter, Deyonna (Scott) Pattie and two great-grandsons, Casey and Trey Pattie all of Wooster; brothers, James Cruise and Carl (Mary) Cruise both of Wooster and Tony (Leora) Cruise of Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
An animal lover, she leaves her four cats, Mommy Cat, Dora, Kizzy and Tony.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Ardeth Cruise, sisters Athaleen Cowell and Evonne Croskey, a brother, Floyd Cruise and sister-in-law Norina Cruise.
At her request, there will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place.
There will be a celebration of Life at the home of her granddaughter at 1644 Moore Road, Wooster on Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. All family and friends are welcome to come and share this time, bring a good story or two.
