WOOSTER – Belle Almira Kersten, 95, of Wooster passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in her home.
She was born September 24, 1915 in Wooster, the daughter of Clarence Arthur and Della Florence Johnson Clouse. She was one of 10 children. She married William Robert Kersten in 1934. He died in 1981.
She retired from the Wayne Co. Engineers Office in 1981. She was a member of the Central Christian Church where she served as a deaconess and treasurer and was a member of and treasurer for the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Belle was a member of the Wooster Community Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Wooster Chapter of Eastern Star for over 60 years, Wimodausis Club, the Four Seasons Garden Club, Board member of Meals Together and was an avid bridge player belonging to many clubs.
Surviving are daughters, Sherrie (Charles) Jordan of Ocala, Florida and Deborah (Ronald Rusty) Riggs of Creston and a son William (Barbara) Kersten of Leesburg, Virginia, a brother Wayne Clouse of Indianapolis, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Joanne Gates, Kathleen Bartelloni, William Kersten, Kimberly Larsson, Jennifer Bouck, Matthew Jordan, Barbara Brooks, Jeffrey Riggs and Melanie Riggs and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Belle was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Myrtle Grant, Luella Warner, Helen Bray Brown and brothers Howard, Glenn, Melvin, William and Lester Clouse.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with the Rev. Joel Engman officiating. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will follow the memorial service.
