WOOSTER – Mary OXENRIDER, 83 , of Wooster passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in Wooster Community Hospital.
She was born January 2, 1928 in Lancaster, the daughter of William F and Helen Ricketts McBroom. She married John D. Oxenrider on September 30, 1960. He died July 19, 1977.
She was a graduate of Lancaster High School in 1945, attended Lancaster Business College and graduated from Wooster Business College. Mary was a homemaker and had sold insurance for AFLAC. She was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church, was a co-founder of the Friends of Boys Village, member of Quota Club and had served as past president, member of the Wooster Swim Club, former PTA member, active with the Brownies/Girl Scouts, volunteered with the Salvation Army and the Red Cross and a member of the Garden Party Garden Club.
Surviving are her children Lawrence R. (Carla) Oxenrider of Wooster, E. Susanne (Ronald) Carroll of Madison, Mississippi and Amy L. (Stewart) Klipsch of Newburgh, Indiana; grandchildren, Jessica Brandi Oxenrider, James William Oxenrider, Ronald Neil Carroll, III, William Trevor Carroll and Hannah Susanne Klipsch; a brother, Robert McBroom of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ray McBroom and sisters, Bea Ewing, Jean Rush and Joanne Schaffer.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday evening, July 21, 2011 from 5-8:00 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Wooster United Methodist Church on Friday, July22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. David Wilcox officiating. A private family burial will be held.
