WOOSTER – Joseph R SCALE, 88, of Wooster, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 in his home.
He was born June 20, 1923 in Wooster, the son of Bruno Sr. and Santa Sandra Collian Scale. He married Lucille Cicconetti on November 8, 1947. She died April 17, 2002.
He was a 1941 graduate of Wooster High School and was a carrier/clerk for the Postal Service retiring in 1979. A member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Lamplighters. Served his country with the US Army during WWII where he was in the second wave of the Omaha Beach invasion..
Surviving are his children, Kathy Scale Costello and Jerry (Sharon) Scale both of Wooster; grandchildren, Anthony Costello, Joseph C. Scale and Katherine E. Scale; a brother, Bruno Scale Jr. of Wooster; a brother-in-law, Donald Cicconetti and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dominic, James and Anthony Scale and sisters Carmella Sullivan and Mary Snyder.
Friends will be received at the at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday evening, July 28, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with the Rev. Stephen Moran as the celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery, Wooster.
