WOOSTER ? Richard C. ?Dick? Louttit, Jr., 71 of Wooster, a loving husband, father and grandfather, who sacrificed much and received great joy from his family, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2011 in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born November 30, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Richard C. Sr. and Julia Hovanec Louttit. He married June Ackerman on June 11, 1961 and they had just celebrated 50 years of marriage.
He had been a mold operator at Rubbermaid for 33 years. He served as president of United Rubber Workers Local 302 for 23 years and held numerous positions with local, state and national AFL-CIO United Rubber Workers and United Steel Workers Organizations. Dick served as a volunteer with the breakfast group at Trinity and with Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ and had served his country with the US Navy where he was a diver and was an amphibious boat pilot.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time watching his grandchildren in sporting events and activities.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Rick (Linda) and a daughter Holly Louttit McMorrow; granddaughters Alexis (Michael) Miller, Olivia McMorrow and a grandson Deven McMorrow; his step-mother Helen Louttit (his mother died following his birth) and a half brother Jim.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Barbara Louttit Mellinger Mansfield.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday, August 5, from 5-8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Royer and Mr. Jim Franks officiating. Burial will take place on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne Co., 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
