WOOSTER – Virginia Jean Hannan, 86, of Wooster passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 in Wooster Community Hospital.
Jean was born August 12, 1924 in Wayne County to Ralph and Edith M. (Ensminger) Hannan.
Jean had been a life time member of the Reedsburg Evangelical and Reformed Church of Christ in Reedsburg until 1971 when she transferred her membership to the Wooster Trinity United Church of Christ where she became an active member. She graduated from Wooster High School in 1943 where she played the trumpet in the Wooster High School marching band for four years. For many years, she was a fast softball pitcher for Myers Pro. team in Ashland as well as teams in Wayne County. She was a 600 bowler and an avid golfer. Jean had worked as a payroll accountant at the Gerstenslager Co. and retired from Regal Ware, Inc. in 1987 after 25 years of service as a sales representative.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Elma Hartsel on January 7, 2010.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Reedsburg Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Royer officiating.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
