Earl Godfrey Anderson, 91, of Wooster, died on Wednesday August 10, 2011.
A memorial service to remember his life will be held on Sunday August 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Wooster United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. David Wilcox officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private family service will be held earlier at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster.

Earl was born April 21, 1920 in Crestline, Ohio to E. Godfrey and Hildor Claudia (Isaacson) Anderson. He was married for 66 years to Alieen Heath Anderson. She died in 2009.
After graduating from Ohio State University in 1941 with a chemical engineering degree, he worked as a chemist in several locations before moving to Wooster in 1946 when he took a job with Harris Paint/Wooster Finishes Co. His second job in Wooster was a chemist at the Wooster Brush Company. He retired in 1982.
Earl was an active member of Wooster United Methodist Church for 65 years and enjoyed playing the piano for the chapel service, as well as helping with the newsletter mailing. Over the years, he also shared his musical talents with area nursing homes and Wooster Kiwanis Club of which he was a long time member. He belonged to the auxiliary at Wooster Community Hospital and enjoyed helping in the hospital education department every week for many years. He was a life member of the American Chemical Society as well as a life member of Ohio State Alumni. He proudly cheered on every Ohio State football and basketball team. He was also a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers. In later years, he started writing poetry and had quite a few published in the Poetry Corner of the Daily Record. During the time he lived at West View Manor, he enjoyed their many activities and especially the wonderful caring staff.
He is survived by a daughter, Chris (Dave) Acker of Wooster and a son Doug (Ginger) Anderson of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren Chad Acker and Jed (Beth) Acker of Shreve, Charlie Anderson of Dallas, Texas and Julie Anderson of Big Spring, Texas; great grandchildren Joy Lynn and Lucy Elizabeth Acker of Shreve, and Nathan Alexander Franco of Big Spring, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alieen and brother Robert Anderson.
