Opal Elizabeth Chance, 86, of Wooster died Thursday August 11, 2011 at Smithville Western Care Center.
She was born August 13, 1924 in Wooster to the late Earl and Eleanor Barnes Smith. On February 24, 1944 she married Robert Chance, who survives.
Opal worked in the Men?s Department at the William Annat Co. for over 20 years and as a waitress at Purdy?s Restaurant and at Berry?s Restaurant. She was a member of the Highland Avenue Church of God, life member of Wayne County Saddle Club and was a volunteer at People to People.
Along with her husband, Opal is survived by children John (Joleen) Chance, Tracy (Kathryn) Chance both of Wooster and Wendy Chance of Charleston, WV; grandchildren Julie (Kevin) Keener, Jarrod (Carrie) Chance, Janelle Chance, Geoffrey, Jessica and Brittany Stevens; great grandchildren Owen and Brianna Keener and Sylvia Chance and a sister Dorothy Daugherty of Wooster.
Along with her parents, Opal was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Smith and a sister Hazel Sperry.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday August 16 at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Mark McCord and Pastor Wendall Sinclair officiating. Interment will follow at Reedsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday evening from 6:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
