WOOSTER – Paul Dean Butch MCDOWELL, 65, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 in his home.
He was born April 16, 1946 in Bigler, Pennsylvania, the son of Robert Thomas and Lula Mohr McDowell. He married Shirley Jean Mairs on July 23, 1972. She died November 29, 2010.
He retired from the OARDC as the Department Head of the working garage. Paul loved his cars, was an avid woodworker and outdoorsman. He loved his wife dearly and his family. He served his country with the US during the Viet Nam War.
Surviving are children, Carla (Jeff) Smith of Bakersfield, California, Vickie (Rod) Stone and Jamie McDowell both of Wooster and Susan McDowell of Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren; his siblings Richard (Nancy) Mackey and Judy Christian both of Wooster, Don (Becky) McDowell and Debbie Elliot both of Millersburg.
In addition to his wife, Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert Thomas Jr, and Harold McDowell, a sister Mary Lou Mann and a brother-in-law, Howard Christian.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Interment will follow in the Plain Cemetery, Wooster.
