WOOSTER – David Anthony Waldron, 84, of Wooster passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 in West View Manor Nursing Home.
He was born August 21, 1927 in Cleveland, the son of John Eugene and Blanche O’Neil Waldron.
He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and The Ohio State University. After graduating high school, he served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. He started his career as a geologist with Dowell Services and then at 30 years of age founded D.A. Waldron & Associates, Oil Field Services, with branches in Wooster and Cambridge, employing over 200 people. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Catherine Catholic Church in Kauai, Hawaii. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities in Cleveland and Hawaii. David was a member of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association and in 2006 was inducted into the Oil and Gas Assoc. Hall of Fame, a former Rotarian, member of the Elks Lodge in Wooster and a member of the Lions Club in Hawaii. David was an avid boater, traveler, golfer and pilot. David thoroughly enjoyed Monday night football with a group of friends for a number of years in the apartment above the local funeral home.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Lynette Vacchio Waldron; step-daughter and son-in-law Taryn L. Bauerle-Goebel and Marc Goebel of Ithaca, New York, step-son and daughter-in-law William Bauerle, III and Elaine Poulin of Windsor, Colorado, daughter and son-in-law Julie Rome and Michael of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren Siena and Max Goebel, Benjamin and Elyssa Bauerle and Amanda Keener.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 33 years Mary Louise Randolph Waldron in 1982 and an adopted daughter Diane Murphy.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Moran as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Wooster.
