ASHLAND ? G. Marilyn Melvin, 87, of Ashland and formerly of Canton, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 in her home.
She was born September 21, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James and Grace (Craig) Feick. She married William Harley Melvin on May 23, 1947. He died in 1999.
Marilyn was a graduate of South Hills High School in Pittsburgh and was a homemaker. She was a member of and co founder of the Church of the Lakes in Canton. She enjoyed flower arranging, her church, lunches with her friends and most of all her family.
She is survived by her children Terrie Dunlap of Ashland, Daneen Stock of Lithia, Florida and William J. Melvin of Hudson, Ohio; grandchildren Tyler (Leanne) Dunlap, Trevor (Sarah) Dunlap, Tara (Mike) McKernan, Heather (Craig) Stanley, Tricia (Dustin) McCumber, Mark (Erin) Stock, Mindy Melvin; Step-grandchildren Melanie and Tom Gavin, Sam and Jill Younkin; great grandchildren Quinn and Colin Dunlap, Ashton, Mattie and Lydia Dunlap, Riley and Austin Stanley, Liam McKernan, Spencer and Grace McCumber and Skylar Stock;. Step-great-grandchildren Cole, McKayla and McKenzie Gavin and Taylor and Nicholas Younkin.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Church of the Lakes in Canton with Pastor Bryan George officiating. Inurnment will be in the Church Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of the Lakes, Alzheimers Association, Brethren Care Village or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
