Russell Earl Adkins, 63, of Wooster joined his parents and all of God?s children in Heaven on October 4, 2011. He passed away at St. Vincent?s Medical Center in Toledo after suffering from a fall on September 24, 2011.
Funeral services will be held on Monday October 10, 2011 at 3:00 PM at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Rev. Joel Engman officiating.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Russell will be buried at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
Russell was born November 8, 1947 to Manthy Adkins and Gypsie (Rogers) Bell in Huntington, West Va.
He spent his youngest years growing up in West Va., and Kentucky. His family moved to Wooster in 1959. He is a graduate of Northwestern High School.
Russell proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran. After the service, he worked for Orrville Products and was currently employed by Enviroclean Services of Wooster.
He is survived by one sister, Evelyn Dotson of Colorado. Brother Morman (Georgia) Adkins and half brother Dan (Robyn) Bell both of Wooster. Nephews Mark Dotson of Colorado and Jason Adkins of Orrville. Nieces Angela and Brianne of Colorado. Two aunts and numerous cousins. Also Lisa, who was a true friend who he loved.
Russell loved working with old machinery and searching for fossils in woods and creeks. He was a simple man who enjoyed life. He had a heart as big as gold and would do anything for anyone who needed help.
He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
