WOOSTER – Luella L. BATTIG, 90, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in the Wayne Co. Care Center.OH.
She was born August 10, 1921 in Wooster, the daughter of Harry and Nellie Boney Hofacker and had lived here for her entire life.
Luella worked at various businesses in Wooster and was the head cashier at Kroger’s for many years. After retiring, she raised exotic birds and sold them to various businesses. She became known as The Bird Lady.
She was a member of the West Hill Baptist Church loved the Lord and read her Bible daily.
Surviving are her children, Larry (Jean) Battig of Ashland, Donald (Sharon) Battig and Phyllis (Ross) Barnes both of Wooster, Joanne Jolliff of Hoover, AL and Jackie (Rose) Scott of Ocala, FL; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a brother, Guy Hofacker of Texas and a great friend Martha Francis.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harry and Kenny Hofacker and Victor, Eugene and Ralph Bunt.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m.services at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM . Interment will follow in the Hazzard Cemetery, West Salem.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wayne Co. Care Center, 876 S. Geyers Chapel Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
