WOOSTER ? Geneva C. Johnston, 92, of Wooster died Thursday, November 10, 2011 in the Emeritus Senior Living Facility in Canton.
She was born February 19, 1919 in Big Prairie, the daughter of Harrison H. and Frieda Sloan Pennell.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary for the Guernsey Assoc. in Wooster and at ODOT in Ashland. She was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, a member of the Emblem Club, two bridge clubs, a garden club, Wooster Country Club Ladies Golf Assoc., helped with the Red Cross Blood Mobiles and was a former Girl Scout leader. Geneva was an avid gardener and golfer and in 1987 designed the Wayne County Flag.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ed Bennett of New Philadelphia, grandchildren Eric Bond and Rebecca Bennett, sisters Nedra Hiller of Polk and Zelma Tate of Big Prairie.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edgar R. Johnston, on September 19, 1987, sisters Kathryn Hudson, Naomi Butts and Audra Stout and brothers Harry and Emerson.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Monday evening, November 14, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
