WOOSTER – William C TOPE, 90, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 in his home.
He was born February 7, 1921 in Lakeville, the son of John and Ruth Raby Everstine Tope. He married Doris M. Knox in 1946. She survives.
He was a project engineer from 2001 to the present at G & S Titanium and was the plant electrical engineer at the Gerstenslager Co. for 35 years. He had a lifelong interest in flying and held a private pilot license for 40 years. William served his country with the US Army Air Corps during WWII serving in Casablanca, Morocco.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Patricia M. (Ken) Kinney and Stephen W. (Mary Jane) Tope bothof Wooster; grandchildren, Melissa M. Conrad of Shreve and Stephen W. Tope, Jr. of Wooster; great-grandchildren, Michael L., Malachi D. and Matthew W. Conrad all of Shreve; sisters, Carrie Kloch of Inglis, Florida and Clare Clemens of Bellville; brother, John (Eileen) Tope of Loudonville and a half-brother, Edward (Phyllis) Everstine of Fombell, Pennsylvania.
William was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul Tope and Donald Webb and sisters, Mary Moyer and Lucille Taylor.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Hospice Chaplain Tom Michaels officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashville Cemetery.
