Neal E. ?Cork? Mairs, 70, of Wooster, passed away Saturday December 17, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday December 21, 2011 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Moskowitz officiating. Burial will follow in Plain Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
He was born September 16, 1941 the son of Ray W. and Edna V. Shriver Mairs. On June 11, 1961 he married Karol Wood who survives.
Cork was a 1960 graduate of Shreve High School and a lifetime farmer. He was a member of the Plain Lutheran Church, past president of the Plain Cemetery Association, a member of the Knat Boxers Square Dancing Club and the Wayne County Saddle Club. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, his back yard fish pond and attending livestock auctions.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children: Kimberly J. (Rob) Rhees of Wooster, Jay T. Mairs of Wooster, Mary E. (Alan) Haven of Wooster, Ryan N. (Melissa) Mairs of Ashland, and Kurt R. (Jaeda) Mairs of Wooster. Grandchildren: Lindsey Mairs, Nicholas Mairs, Andrew Mairs, Kara Rhees, Molly Rhees, Tyler Haven, Lane Haven, Troy Haven, Caleb Mairs and Kane Mairs. A brother; Max (Betty) Mairs of Wooster and a sister; Janet ( Marion) Miller of Shreve.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Shirley Jean McDowell, a brother in law; Paul McDowell, and his mother and father in law; Norman and Jane Wood.
