Clarice Marie (Dodge) Massaro passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on January 28, 1930 to Clarence and Rose (Mancini) Dodge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 29 at 12:00 noon with viewing one hour before at St. Mary Catholic Church. Friends may call at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster on Wednesday, December 28 from 5:00 PM ? 8:00 PM.
Clarice graduated in 1950 from the College of St. Scholastica, St. Mary?s Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota with an RN degree. She had a long nursing career in Wooster and enjoyed her many co-workers and patients.
On September 1, 1950, in Duluth, Minnesota, Clarice wed Joseph M. ?Scotchie? Massaro. Living in Wooster, they raised their eight children ? two sons and six daughters or as Clarice said, ?two and one-half dozen.? The matriarch of the family, Clarice was the go-to gal for family history, festivities, and memorable family reunions.
Clarice was a devoted member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster and served on many committees. She also volunteered throughout the community in various activities that were dear to her heart.
Surviving are her children Joan (Chris) Moore, Michael (Sue) Massaro, Martin Massaro (Lynn Baker), Carmella Massaro Bresson (Dean McIlvaine), Cora (Rusty) Bruch, Therese (Quinton) Ward, Clarica ?Jojo? (Doug) Meigs, Rose Massaro (Nick Wiesenberg). Her grandchildren are Heather Miksch, JJ (Alicia) Costello, John Paul Costello (Nadine Nocero), Silvia Bresson, Ty Bresson, Jake Bresson (Ashley Haley), Claire, Joe, and Meredith Bruch, Jacqueline Ward, Amy (Sam) Love, and Chris and Spencer Meigs; her great-grandchildren are Oliver Costello, Adrian, Samantha, and Solomon Love. Brothers Vince (Jan) Dodge, Clarence ?Babe? Dodge (Donna Graul), a sister Roey (Gene) Garbarino, brothers-in-law Carl (Marion) Massaro, Edward (Mary Rita) Massaro, sisters-in-law Deidre Dodge and Nancy Paull, aunts Josephine Lonero and Catharine (Mancini) Haun and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Clarice always had a hug and a smile to share. Her heart was open to all people and experiences. Her passions included gardening, cooking, playing the piano, singing, reading, and most of all, her family. She will be missed but her energy has been passed on to so many and is truly a testament to who she was.
