WOOSTER – Nolen Benjamin RAFFERTY, 92, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born February 23, 1919 in Cromwell, Kentucky, the son of Fred and Nanny Cartwright Stevens Rafferty. He married Hazel L. McCluggage on December 5, 1945. She died February 25, 2008.
He had worked at the Wooster Clinic in the maintenance dept., Rubbermaid in the shipping dept., retired from the O.A.R.D.C in the maintenance dept. and in retirement worked for Buehlers. Nolen was a member of the Holmesville Christian Church. Served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. He enjoyed gardening, lawn work and fishing..
Surviving are his children, Judith (Rex) Bennett of Wooster and John (Boots) Rafferty of Holmesville, grandchildren, Dedra Stidhum, Michael Bennett, Mark Bennett, Aaron Bennett and Brian Rafferty; 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Nolen was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rayburn Rafferty and sisters Lucille Butler and Juanita Rafferty.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday, December 29, 2011 with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville.
