Dorothy Mae Wright was born a twin on December 12, 1934 in Grenada, Mississippi to Joe and Mamie Johnson Tidwell. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandma and friend entered into heavenly rest on December 26, 2011. Dorothy was the baby of 10 siblings born and raised in Grenada, Mississippi and educated in the Tie Plant School System. That is where she met the love of her life, James Wright, and the couple married on March 22, 1952. She followed him as he went through his military training. Dorothy and James moved from Mississippi to Orrville, Ohio in 1956 and together they raised five children in Orrville. In 1973, the couple moved their family to Wooster. Dorothy was a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church where she was a devoted Deaconess, Trustee, Choir member, Missionary member and a member of the W.W.O.M. and helped in the Kitchen Ministry. She worked eleven years as a domestic worker for the Wooster City Schools until she became disabled. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed long walks, loved listening to gospel music, gardening, and feeding the birds. She was an excellent cook and she embraced laughter, cookouts and spending vacations with her family. She was a never ending source of strength, encouragement and love to anyone who knew her. Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved father and mother, brother?s Booney, William, J.T., Joseph and John Tidwell, sister?s Cora Lee Jones, Elnora Barnes and Ethel Tidwell (twin sister). Dorothy leaves behind her enduring and devoted husband, James Wright, two loyal daughters, Sandra (Neil) Smith of Wooster and Nora Jean (Rev. Tommy) Higgins Sr. of Akron, three loving sons, Freddie (Lisa) Wright of Massillon, Richard (Jeanne) Wright of Akron and Samuel (Avery) Wright of Wooster; a sister Ladie May Shipp of Grenada, Mississippi; two special nieces, Geraldine Johnson and Sara Mister of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a God-daughter, 16 grandchildren, 12 half grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday evening, December 30, 2011 from 6?8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 245 S. Grant St., Wooster with the Rev. Rickey Brown officiating. Those who wish may make contributions to the West View Manor Nursing Home, 1715 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 Special thanks to all of her family in Joliet, Illinois for always being loving and supportive. Thank you West View Manor, The Wooster Cleveland Clinic and the Second Baptist Church members. The family would like to thank each person in attendance for your presence, comforting words, floral tributes, cards, food, prayers and acts of kindness during our hour of need.
