SMITHVILLE – John A BUSS, 71, of Smithville, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born August 31, 1940 in Sterling, the son of Walter E and Frances M Zook Buss. He married Judy A. Dilyard on September 10, 1961. She survives.
He worked for and then owned Merle D. Matz and Son Decorating until 1990 and then as a manager for D & S Distribution Services, Inc. in Wooster. He was a member of the Chippewa Church of the Brethren.
John served as a Wayne Township Trustee for many years. His proudest achievement during that time was to be a part of organizing the Central Fire District and the building of Station 2. He loved coaching little league, woodworking, family vacations, fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Terri (Rodney) Weidner of New York, Todd (Mindy) Buss of Wooster and Tim Buss of Smithville; grandchildren who were his pride and joy; Emily, Brandon, Megan, Tyler and Jordan Buss, Alessandro, Leandro and Pedro Weidner and Anatolii Drobot; brothers, Walter (Lillie) Buss of Wooster, Wayne (Delores) Buss of Orlando, FL and Bill (Shirley) Buss of Sterling. brothers-in-law Ron (Nancy) Dilyard of Wooster, Ricky (Susan) Dilyard of Smithville, Rod (Jill) Dilyard of Orrville and sisters-in-law Jackie Thompson and Jill (Jim) Franks both of Smithville. Many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Richard Dilyard and Kenneth Thompson and a nephew, Nathanial Dilyard.
Friends will be received on Sunday evening, January 1, 2012 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
Services will be held at the Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 10230 N. Honeytown Rd., Creston, OH 44217 on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 1:30 PM with the Rev. Shawn Hilliard officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Chaia Joy Thompson Fund, c/o First Merit Bank, 102 Main St., Wadsworth, OH 44281.
