WOOSTER – Richard L. Red LICHTEBERGER, 68, of Wooster, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 in Wooster Community Hospital after a long illness.
He was born March 11, 1943 in Wooster, the son of Harry K. Dutch and Verena Jensen Lichteberger.
After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Fairbanks, Alaska and Japan. He worked with the Strategic Air Command keeping the nuclear equipped B-52 flying 24-7. After his service, he moved back to Wooster and spent many years working in the Wooster area until he started his dream by opening his gift shop, Alpenstock. His love of nature, art and dogs kept him very active.
Surviving are a daughter, Christa (Jason) Falb and granddaughters, Olivia and Victoria of Locust Grove, Va; a sister, Bonita L. (Paul) Mulhollan of Wadsworth and their children, Jacqueline (Randy) Wallace of Green, Julia (Blake) Williams of Stow and John S. Mulhollan of Brecksville and great nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Dutch in 1974 and his mother, Verena in September of this year.
Family and friends may attend a Service of Remembrance on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster (330 262-7771 with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
