WOOSTER – William Saxman SINGLETON, SR., 86, of Wooster, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 in his home.
He was born November 10, 1925 in Blacksville, WV, son of Dr. William McCormick and Catherine Saxman Singleton. He married Suzanne Gilmore on September 4, 1948. She died December 10, 2001.
He was a Manufacturers Representative for C.L. Kerr & Assoc, of Cleveland. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a past president of the Wooster Country Club and was an avid golfer. Served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Surviving are sons, Scott Singleton and William Saxman Singleton Jr. both of Wooster; a sister Sara S. (Dr. Francis) Lowry of Cincinnati and a half-brother Dr. Robert (Olivia) Singleton of Charleston, W. Virginia.
In addition to his wife, William was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family Graveside Services will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman with the Rev. Charles Cureton officiating.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
