WOOSTER – Thomas E HYDER, 59, of Shreve, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord onWednesday, February 1, 2012 in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1952 in Crossville, Tennessee, the son of Ernest R and Jerleen Davis Hyder.
He had been a police officer with the City of Wooster from 1973 – 1998 and had served with the U.S. Army in the National Guard. He had also worked for the Wayne Co. National Bank and Wayne Savings in security operations for 22 years and at the College of Wooster Transportation Dept. from 2003 to the present. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed shooting firearms in competition.
Tom will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Moreland Hyder; his children, Thomas Hyder of Ashland, Andrea Bowen of Lodi, Michael Hyder of South Carolina and Bethany Hyder of Wooster; step-daughters, Larissa (Jay) Wallace of Morristown, Arizona and Erin (Jeff) Hill of Big Prairie; step-grandchildren Allyson, Emily and Jacob Hill and Wyett Wallace; a brother Don Hyder of Wooster and sisters Barbara (John) Bruce of Shreve, Debra Graham and Carol Weber both of Massillon, Brenda (George) Carey of Orrville and Cindy (Todd) Becker of Shreve. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 5-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating.
