WOOSTER – Gerald W. Jerry Harpster, 70, of Wooster, died Sunday, Feb. 12 at his home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1941 in Wooster to Harry Boyd and Etha Marcella Harpster. He graduated from Wooster High School in 1959 and served in the United States Army from 1963-66. He was a mechanic during a tour of duty in Vietnam. He married Paula Lea Sharp on Dec. 14, 1968. She survives
Jerry was employed as a truck driver for Carter Lumber, Advanced Drainage Systems, Louisiana Pacific and USF Holland Freight Lines until his retirement in 2004.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed working on his classic 1978 Corvette, spending time with his much-beloved dogs Muffin, Brandy and Nikki and following the Browns, Cavaliers and Indians. Jerry was a member of Mid-Ohio Corvette Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Paula, are a son, David; brother Richard; nieces Wendy (Harpster) Shonk; Bethany Harpster and Jill Habegger and nephew Jim Habegger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy (Harpster) Habegger.
Friends will be received Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Services will take place at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Chaplain Eric Fairhurst officiating. Burial will be at Reedsburg Cemetery.
