WOOSTER – Doris Rohn Bright was born in Lima OH on June 2, 1917 to Earl & Dorothy Jones Rohn, she died in Wooster OH on Feb. 14, 2012, with her daughter Laurie at her side.
Doris graduated from Lima Central High School in 1935 and from Miami University in 1939 with a major in English Literature. She received her Master of Nursing from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve in 1944. She worked as an Obstetrical Nurse at McDonald House in Cleveland during the Baby Boom.
In 1947 she married The Reverend Harry E Bright of the United Methodist Church. Together they served churches in West Mansfield, Granville, Ada, Cincinnati, Delaware, Akron and Cleveland. She was active in these churches singing in the choir, accompanying musical events on the piano, leading church groups and initiating many craft projects and fundraisers
Doris found special joy in her art work and craftwork which included many paintings, sewing projects, knitting, furniture refinishing, making and selling Christmas ornaments, caning chairs and making paper mache figures.
Upon her husband ™s retirement in 1982, she moved with him to Lakeside, OH where they both had spent summertime vacations for over sixty years. In retirement she was involved as an active member of the Friends of the Lakeside Hotel, where they worked to save and restore the Victorian Hotel. She was also involved in the annual Art Show and the Lakeside Heritage Society. She was a dear friend to many people and loved by her family. She will be remembered for her story telling, listening ear, leadership, skill, humor and wit.

Doris Bright was preceded in death by her husband, The Reverend Harry E Bright, daughter Kathryn Ann Bright of NJ and brother, Dr. Robert (Ann Smith) Rohn of Indianapolis, IN.
She is survived by daughter Laurie (Dr. Brian) Beam, two granddaughters, Ashley Beam and Lisa (Joshua) Schaeffer and a great grandson William Avery Schaeffer.
In lieu of Flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Lakeside Heritage Society, 324 W. Third St, Lakeside, OH 43440 or The Lakeside Chautauqua Foundation, 236 Walnut Ave, Lakeside, OH 43440 memo line: Doris Bright Memorial Fund.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Ave., Lakeside, Ohio 43440 Interment of ashes will be in the Pike Run Cemetery in Gomer, Ohio. McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
