WOOSTER Virginia A. Palombi, 72, of Wooster, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Akron City Hospital.
Virginia was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on February 4, 1940. She was the daughter of Chester Frederick and Thelma Jean (Swimkoski) Degenkolb. She was raised in Pittsburgh, and moved to Wooster in 1960.
She attended college at Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) South Campus in West Mifflin, PA. She worked as a certified home health care provider for 25 years, until her retirement in 2010.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster.
Virginia was a fun-loving, compassionate person who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a gifted story teller, with an amazing memory and a great sense of humor. Her hobbies included breeding and showing championship Siamese cats, reading, watching movies, and playing cards. She was a lifelong animal lover. She will be most remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother, and wonderful friend.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her children, Angela (Stephen) Massaro of Wooster, and Michael (Denise) Palombi of Shreve; grandchildren Mark and Jesse Massaro, and Gino, Angelo, and Nicole Palombi; her extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home in Wooster. There will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held at St. Mary Catholic cemetery, with Fr. Stephen Moran officiating.
