WOOSTER – Waltert D. Karl 79, of Wooster died Saturday May 19, 2012 at Smithville Western Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 23, 2012 at the Wooster First Church of God, 1953 Akron Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691 with Rev. Arnie Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in Blachleyville Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
He was born October 31, 1932 in Johnstown PA. the son of John L. and Mary Martha Vilsack Karl.
Walter worked for Akron Brass for 25 years and prior to that had worked for U.S. Steel Corp. in Johnstown PA. He served his country in the United States Army as a radio operator. He attended the Wooster First Church of God. He loved motorcycles and was a model train enthusiast. He also enjoyed Grandfather and Coo-Coo Clocks, photography and traveling.
Surviving is his wife Roberta Hooley Karl whom he married on April 6, 2001. His 3 sons: William Karl of Wooster, Rick Karl, of Kettering, and Dan karl of Westerville. A grandson: Andrew Chicole. Siblings: Margaret Vincenzo of Johnstown PA. Sister Mary Florence Karl of Baltimore Maryland and Albert Karlson of Kissimee Florida and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Karl. Two sisters: Dorothy Batdorf and Marie Skelly and a brother ; John Karl.
