APPLE CREEK – V. Pearl PHILLIPS, 79, of Apple Creek, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at her home.
She was born January 4, 1933 in Bethesda, Ohio, the daughter of Kenneth and Hazel Davis Phillips. She married Jesse I. Phillips on July 2, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2003.
She retired from Volvo after 28 years as a press operator and welder Pearl was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary #147 for 45 years., Wayne Co. React group and the Apple Creek Civic Improvements Organization. She was named Citizen of the Year in Apple Creek in 2008.
Surviving are her children, Barry (Betty) Phillips of Wooster, Barbara (Michael) Woods of N. Lawrence, Penny Thompson of Apple Creek, Jeremy (Lorre) Phillips of Millersburg and Marg Berry of Apple Creek; many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Phillips of Jerusalem and Kenneth Phillips of Bellsville, a special sister, Helen Clay and the family dog, Polly Jo.
Her extended family, Leroy and Pam Franks, Taylor Meyers, Dave and Dawn Welman, Dave Welman, Jr., Deborah Welman, Rich Huber and Steve and Ashley Franks.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jerry Phillips, a son-in-law Curtis Thompson and a brother, Virgil Phillips.
Friends will be received on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2-5:00 p.m. at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster followed by a short prayer service at 5:00 p.m. with Mr. Clay Rock officiating.
Friends will be received at the Jerusalem United Methodist Church, 51747 Highway 26, Jerusalem, OH 43747 one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. service on Monday, June 4, 2012 with the Rev. Jean Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Jerusalem Cemetery.
