WOOSTER “ M. Marie (Etzwiler) Smith, 84, of Wooster passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Aultman Orrville Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born November 14, 1927 in Shreve, the daughter of Charles H. and Vera I. (Allis) Etzwiler. She married Donald J. Smith on December 23, 1951, and they shared life together for 60 years. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2012. Marie had lived in Wooster most of her life and was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church. She had worked at the old Wooster Rubber Co. during WWII and then was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and animals and cared for many pets through the years. She had wonderful memories of time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Roger (Shirley), Gary (Janet), and Dawn Smith all of Wooster, Deborah (Don Klima) Harris of Arvada, Colorado, Alyce (Tom) Sniff of Sharon Center and Ronald (Charlotte) of Ellicott City, Maryland; a step-son, Terry (Shirley) Smith of Wooster; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Kenneth (Betty) Smith of Wooster; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mildred and Dolores and brothers, Everett, Glenn, Elmer, Ralph and Virgil. Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the 1:00 p.m. service on Tuesday, July 31, at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with the Rev. Larry Black officiating. Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery. Marie had been cared for at West View Manor Nursing Home, and had been a resident of Brenn-Field Nursing Center since May of 2012. The family would like to thank West View Manor and Brenn-Field for their excellent care.
