Michael BYRD, 65, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. He was born January 9, 1947 in Wooster, the, son of Jesse Sr. and Annie Bell Adams Byrd. He had worked for Bell & Howell and had worked for the State of Ohio. Michael had attended the Second Baptist Church. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He loved golf, shooting pool, partying when he was younger. His nickname was the whistle man . Surviving are brothers, Jesse Byrd Jr. and Savoy Byrd both of Wooster and a sister, Anita Byrd Thomas of Texas. Other family and close friends surviiving are, Michelle Thompson, MeMe Torrence, Sonya Hamlet, Jayson, Ginger and Alexia Byrd, and the Carol Byrd family of Cleveland. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Linda Byrd and a brother Lafayette Byrd. Friends will be received at the Second Baptist Church, 245 S..Grant St., Wooster from 9-11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 9-11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service with the Rev. Rickey Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at 2:00 p.m. McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family. Those who wish may make contributions to the Second Baptist Church, 245 S. Grant St., Wooster, OH 44691.
