Earle W. Klosterman, 93, of Wooster died Tuesday January 1, 2013 at West View Manor. He was born October 3, 1919 in Presho, South Dakota, son of Peter P. and Anna Doberstein Klosterman. He married Ann Moore who preceded him in death after 65 years of marriage in 2011. Earle earned his Bachelor ™s degree from South Dakota State University in 1942 and a Ph.D from Cornell University in 1946.   Earle held faculty positions at South Dakota State University and North Dakota State University before joining the faculty of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center and The Ohio State University in 1952, where he conducted beef cattle research until his retirement in 1980. He served as Associate Chair of the Department of Animal Science from 1967 to 1980 and designed and oversaw the construction of the 400 head capacity OARDC Beef Center feedlot in 1968. After retiring from The Ohio State University, he worked on a U.S. Agency for International Development project in Lesotho, Africa for 4 years, helping farmers improve their beef cattle management. Earle was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church, where he was very active and was also a member of Rotary. He is survived by his children Richard Earle (Kathryn Brown) Klosterman of Hudson, Peter Scott Klosterman of San Mateo, CA and Margaret K. (John) Addington of Orient; grandchildren Michelle Drozd, Kimberly Klosterman, John C. Addington II and Gretchen Addington and two great grandsons. Along with his wife, Earle was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul Claire Klosterman. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday January 5, 2013 at the Wooster United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Black officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Private family burial will be held in Wooster Cemetery.
