Wooster “ Helen Elizabeth Herman Horst, 95, died January 25, 2013 at West View Manor, Wooster. She was born December 11, 1917 in Akron to the late Howard and Hazel (Shumaker)Herman.  Helen graduated from Creston High School. Helen married Paul Horst on January 1, 1939. Soon after they were married, they resided in Orrville where they operated a floor covering business. They moved to Wooster in 1961 where Paul served as the first administrator of West View Manor for 21 years. Helen worked along with Paul in both of these careers. She loved serving people and many have been encouraged by her cards and notes. Gardening and woodworking with Paul were her favorite hobbies. She was a member of Paradise Church of the Brethren. Surviving are her husband of 74 years, Paul, daughter Pat (Chet) Mohler, Gahanna, OH, son Fred (Anne), Wooster, daughter Carol (Bob) Brown, Howard, OH, Grandchildren: Chad (Sarah) Mohler of Kirksville, MO, Brian (Susan) Mohler of Lebanon OH, Mindy (Nate) Polaske of Oracle, AZ, Andy Horst of Syracuse, NY. Great Grandchildren: ˆElijah, Benjamin, and Lilah Mohler of Lebanon and Grace Mohler of Kirksville; Dorothy Herman of West Salem, Eleanor Pamer of Ashland, and a brother Howard Herman Jr. of Medina. She was preceded in death by sister Lucille Tegtmeier. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service and immediately following the service. A funeral service will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. West View Manor Chapel, 1715 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster with Major Mary West, Ret. officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to West View Healthy Living, In memory of Helen, 1715 Mechanicsburg Rd, Wooster Ohio 44691-2640, Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster, OH. 44691.  The family would like to thank the staff of West View Healthy Living and to Hospice of Wayne County for the wonderful care and love poured out to Helen and Paul.
