WOOSTER “ Woodrow J. Zook, 97, of Wooster passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at West View Manor Nursing Home. He was born May 2, 1915 in Wooster, the son of Howard Sr. and Della Schloneger Zook. He married Evelyn M. Todd on May 10, 1941. She passed away on April 25, 1999. He was a graduate of Wooster High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. He worked for General Mills from 1937 to 1947. He served in the US Army during World War II from 1943 “ 1945. In 1947, he joined the Wooster Brush Company as an accountant and moved his way up to Treasurer in 1951. In 1959 he became Vice President and Secretary Treasurer and in 1969 Executive Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer and CEO. He retired as President, Treasurer, CEO and Chairman of the Board in 1985, but remained as Chairman of the Board, a position which he still held to this day. Woody held positions of leadership in a number of community organizations in Wooster, including as an active member of the Wooster United Methodist Church, past president of Kiwanis and being on the board of directors of the YMCA . He is survived by sons Thomas W. Zook of Wooster and James (Barbara) Zook of Columbus; along with beloved granddaughters Karen and Lisa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard Zook, Jr. There will be no calling hours. Private family services will be held. McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
