WOOSTER – Richard J MCDAID, 86, of Wooster, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at West View Healthy Living.ã
He was born August 11, 1926 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the son of Richard Francis and Olive Collis McDaid. He married Eileen A. O’Connell on September 20, 1947. She preceded on February 15, 2012.
He graduated from Rose Polytechnical Institute (Rose-Hulman) as a civil engineer. He served as the Wayne Co. Engineer from 1981-1994. Richard was a founder and partner in Engineering Associates, had been a design engineer at United Steel Fabricators and a highway design engineer for Shaffer, Parrett & Associates and consulted with other firms. He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge, member of Wooster Rotary Club, member of County Engineers Association of Ohio, served on the city zoning board, a life member of the American Legion, member of the Lamplighter’s Club and the 20/30 Club. Served his country with the US Navy during WWII.
Surviving are his children, Carol (Stan) Pollard, William (Lyne’e) McDaid and Michael McDaid all of Wooster and James McDaid of Ashland; grandchildren, Jason (Nancy) McDaid Seib, Elyse McDaid and Marissa McDaid; great-grandchildren, Amanda McDaid Seib and Adam Caperton Seib; sister, Frances Egloff of Diamondhead, MIssissippi.ã
In addition to his wife, Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received 2 hours prior to the 2:00 p.m. service on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
