WOOSTER – Mildred Christine PHIPPS, 79, of Wooster and formerly of Big Prairie, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at her home. She was born August 26, 1933 in Belcher, Kentucky, the daughter of Ruey and Belle Rattliff Mullins. She married Fitchue Phipps on December 23, 1947. He survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. Mildred loved gardening, flowers, bird watching and her pets. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Carl (Jill) Phipps of Fredericksburg, Alta (Jack) Malone and James (Patricia) Phipps both of Wooster, John Paul (Mary) Phipps of Smithville, Tom Phipps of Massillon and Connie Phipps of Upper Arlington; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Sherrod of Columbus Grove and a brother, Randall Mullins of Kentucky. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Avery Mullins, Layton Mullins, Glemal Mullins and Paul Howard Mullins. Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2-4:00 p.m. Services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Gray officiating. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Those who wish may make contributions to the Wayne Co. Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
