WOOSTER – Betty Lou Ernst Baker Grandma Betty, 81, passed away on May 8, 2013 at the home of her daughter in West Salem. Betty Was born on December 29, 1931 in Wooster the daughter of Carl and Annabelle (Blake) Ernst. Betty grew up in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and moved to Wooster as a teenager. She married Robert Allen Baker on April 30, 1950 at the Central Christian Church in Wooster. They were happily married for 63 years. Betty was a member of West Hill Baptist Church for many years and spent those years helping care for children in the nursery. She devoted most of her life to caring for children in her home and gave those children the love only a grandmother can. She blessed everyone with her presence and taught her children to treat others equally, kindly and with caring and love. In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her children Paul (Rhonda) Baker of Loudonville, Yvonne (Don) Robinson of West Salem, Charles (Cheryl) Baker of Bremen, Robert (Becky) Baker of Wooster; 20 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a sister Kathleen Jones of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and a sister by life-long friendship, Ilene (Leroy) Austin of Wooster and nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as multiple children who will forever call her Grandma Betty. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy (James) Carter, a sister by life-long friendship Yvonne (Richard) Blough, 2 sons and 2 daughters born prematurely and a great-granddaughter, Rhiannon Yvonne Jenkins. Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 2-4:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
